The City of Rahway is in the midst of a creative and economic renaissance. The purpose of the Rahway Arts District Redevelopment Plan is to build on existing planning efforts to create a unique sense of place and community within the City’s Arts District anchoring the north end of the Central Business District.

The Plan envisions a mix of short- and long-term projects, including partnerships with the arts community, local businesses, educational institutions, and corporate entities. The principal objective is to promote new development to complement and support the Union County Performing Arts Center. Design concepts are proposed for several key sites to encourage new residential and mixed-use projects that will include studio and workshop space. New wayfinding and pedestrian connections are contemplated, and the potential transformation of a difficult five-point intersection is envisioned with a roundabout.
